save the tigers!

Ok if your actually reading this (i just made this blog today) i appreciate it. but what i want to get to is about saving tigers.

i got this information from the World Wildlife Fund, http://www.worldwildlife.org/species/finder/tigers/index.html-

The tiger, largest of all cats, is one of the most charismatic and evocative species on Earth; it is also one of the most threatened. Less than 4,000 remain in the wild, most in isolated pockets spread across increasingly fragmented forests stretching from India to south-eastern China and from the Russian Far East to Sumatra, Indonesia.

Only 4,000 tigers left!?!?!?!? See how bad this is?

Here's some more information...

Poisoned, trapped, snared, shot, captured...Across its range, this magnificent animal is being persecuted. Today, tigers are poisoned, shot, trapped and snared, and the majority of these animals are sought to meet the demands of a continuing illegal wildlife trade - which includes traditional Chinese medicine.

That is so sad!!!!!!

Three tiger subspecies are already extinct, and a fourth is on its way...

In the past century, the world has lost three of the nine tiger subspecies. The Bali, Caspian, and Javan tigers have all become extinct ... and many scientists believe the South China tiger is “functionally extinct”.

I also found this from somone else's tiger blog: http://mvcrobinson206.blogspot.com/2008/10/only-5-years-left.html-

Did you know that Tigers without intervention will go extinct within our lifetime. It's so bad that your grandchildren may never even know what one is. They will think of tigers as some mythical creature like we do unicorns. on a side note: Did unicorns ever exist? Scientist estimate wild Tigers may be gone within the next 5 years.

I mean come on! That is just wrong! If you're reading this, please tell all of your friends about this blog. i might make an online petition, and if i do, i will tell you the website. thanks for reading! and if you know any good tiger or like saving tigers foundations or websites, please post a comment on this post and tell me.

UPDATE: ok guys, i have an idea now. but it only can work if you actually know me personally. i'm not making a petition, but i'm getting people to sign a paper if they care about tigers. i'll come back and update it daily.
